Has this company no shame? On their reply to my initial review below they said that I never agreed to their terms and was going to have someone else take care of my fish. Is that why I gave them my house key then? Does that make any sense? Also, if that is true is it the policy of the Wet Spot to have their employees enter the homes of people who have no agreement with the company? None of their rebuttals make any sense. I was told initially that Taylor was fired and I was given an apology, but I guess when their reputation is on the line they change their tune. So much for integrity.
I had heard about the Wet Spot via YouTube and they were highly recommended so I decided to check out their website. I was looking to start a couple of aquariums with these really cool shell dwelling fish, which they had in stock. I spoke with Joe and placed an order on a Friday. The order went out Monday morning and my fish arrived promptly on Tuesday morning. It was neatly packaged and my fish arrived healthy and happy. Joe is great! I will be ordering again - Wet Spot has a great selection of hard to find fish.
I will never bring my business to them and to anyone who is considering using the Wet Spot for aquarium maintenance, well do so at your own peril and consider how they treated me after my tank was lost due to their neglect. And another thing.........I know for sure that Taylor DID try and dose my tank as the carbon was missing when I got home. I suspect that he tried to do something, killed all of my tank off, and then never reported it to the management because he feared for his job. I cannot prove that but from the evidence that I have I suspect that.
We loved this place. Had everything we were looking for and plenty more. We'll be back. I didn't even look in the next room over. Good prices too. My son loved it who is 4. It's like going to the aquarium. Knowledgeable staff, from what I can tell but I'm also a beginner.
He told Michelle that he 'did' come out once because he said he "felt guilty" that the fish were not being taken care of and they had all contacted a disease but he did not treat nor did he call the main office/store to inquire about how to proceed since I did not sign a service contract. When Michelle told me about the contract this was the first that I had heard about this as everything that Taylor and I discussed was done verbally. She then told me that she had let him go because of the circumstances but I have my suspicions.
Update 11/5/17-
Initial Review -
When I moved out of Chicago, my local store told me to check this place out and it did not disappoint. I ordered 13 Malawi Mbuna on a Monday, they shipped on Tuesday, and I received them(in Seattle) Wednesday morning. The fish were healthy, as described, and looked great. Great customer service and I was very pleased with my order.
As I was totally crushed due to losing my tank as I had some of the fish for well over 5 years, I proposed to Michelle what I thought was a very fair compromise considering the circumstances. She talked it over with the owner and said no and then said that they were not really liable "Because I had not sighed a service contract". Talk about blaming the victim!
To make a long story short, on the last day of my 3 week vacation I received a text from a friend watching the house saying "All Of Your Fish Are Dead"! I immediately went into a panic but was totally in the dark as I had not received any updates from the Wet Spot. I called the store as soon as I could and talked to Michelle the supervisor and she had to look into it.
Purchased these from EBay, looking for an aquarium in Portland (Somewhat Locally). Just because I was nervous about ordering fish online. Even though it is 34° outside my fish came the next day all alive and well. Highly recommend these guys if you are in the Portland area and want your fish shipped quick without issues.
I really hate to write this review as I had such high hopes and was counting on their servicing my tank when I was on vacation. I contacted Wet Spot months before my vacation and told them the times when I was going to be away and made an appointment for them to come out previous. I went over what I needed done which amounted to not much more than water changes and light feeding, gave Taylor the key and gave the dates when I would need the service.
Turns out that the person that was SUPPOSED to do the maintenance on my tank was not sure that we had made final plans for him to come out, even though I had given him the key to my house and we stood in front of my calendar and discussed the days for him to come out which was once a week. I have a automatic feeder so he was just going to do cleanings, change filters, etc. and light feeding if needed.
