Spent 3 days working with this amazing team. They helped me test ride every option I was interested in and provided friendly and attentive help. We drove down from Seattle and it was worth every mile. There are recumbent dealers in the Seattle region but the experience is worth the trip. They are happy to answer any question and have a huge selection of the best and safest recumbents around, where you can grab your helmet or barrow one of the shops and go test ride. The days of old and slow recumbent bikes are in the past. These things are just as fast and easy to hill climb on as any road bike.
Trike Angels!! Janet certainly earned her wings this week! She spent an incredible eight hours with us trying to fit us properly and had excellent ideas for modifying trike for short legs. Mel has a great sense of humor and was very helpful as well. We bought two new trikes. HPVelotechnik Gekko and Greenspeed Magnu XL. Very happy with both. Jack the mechanic was infinitely patient and kind. We'd only shop at Recumbent PDX due to the excellent service and selection.
Thanks again you guys. See you soon to get the wife's picked up.
With support and encouragement of the PDX Recumbents’ owners and staff, after several months, I decided to buy a Catrike Villager – it changed my life! I now am able to ride with my friends in Idaho in summers and resume riding the streets of Portland during the winter. I have gotten stronger, and for the first time in years, I feel healthy and “alive.” I did find that I couldn’t keep up with my biking buddies initially, so I purchased a BionX electrical assist package, and now there is no hill I can’t climb. My friends are astounded by the change in me, and are considering purchasing a tricycle when they begin to lose their balance.
Thank you Mel and Janet for “saving my life!”
I am a 74-year-old man who led a very active life until 12 months ago. At that time, I found myself losing my balance in several different ways. The one that bothered me the most was related to keeping upright on my bicycle. At the time, I was riding several times a week with a group of friends, and to my great regret, I had to give that up. That happened during the six months of each year that my wife and I live in North Idaho. In the summers we spend time in this “rural” setting, surrounded by wheat and hay fields; in the winters we spend time in Portland to soak up cultural activities. Living in Southeast Portland, I would pass by RecumbenPDX on the bus frequently. Finally, I decided to drop in for a tricycle test ride, and the rest as they say, was history!
We had a great experience trying out (and ultimately buying) a couple recumbent trikes at RecumbentPDX. Nice team, lots of fun and very competent. So happy to see the former Coventry Cycles business in such good hands!
It is my pleasure to recommend Recumbent PDX as "The place to go" for recumbent trike product and service. Everyone I talked with was knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help. They did not tire answering my questions and encouraged me to ride different bikes to get the recumbent experience. Mel and Janet are so friendly and eager to help. It has been a wonderful experience & I love my trike.
