As far as parking goes PSU does it right. The garages are bright and clean, easy to navigate and always seem to be improving.

Great school and teachers

I bought the summer term, non-refundable Flex Pass expecting to be taking a 4-credit 3 week physics class, but quickly realized the class was too fast-paced for me and that I would fail if I stayed in the class, so I dropped it. Transportation Services is charging me and extra $60 because, according to the contract, I had to be taking over 3 credits at any given time during the term to not be charged the $60 fee. I feel like I should be able to dispute the charges based on the fact that I couldn't get a refund for the pass, and I also couldn't take the class with a large risk of lowering my GPA. In my opinion, Flex Passes should be refundable, pro-rated based on how many days the pass has been owned, or that Transportation Services should not essentially trap students (who are already paying a ton of money to go to school) in paying extra fees due to circumstances like this. I feel like resistance is futile in my particular case obviously, but the stipulations of the contract should include this availability for wiggle-room to avoid unnecessary and expensive fees in the future. I wish I could use the services that Transportation Services provides, but if this doesn't change, I will not be purchasing parking permits or bus passes from Transportation Services in the future, for fear of being charged extra fees.

Have you ever tried fitting 30 thousand students into 3 thousand parking spaces? It's not as easy as it sounds. TAPS really works hard to provide great customer service and available options. I would highly recommend going through them for your FlexPass or other commuter needs.

They sell trimet honored citizen (disabled) tickets and passes which I would not expect from a university Transportation Department. They also have fairly good prices considering traffic in the middle of downtown Portland and the only other place to buy tickets is Safeway or at Tri-met's ticket office. They are also good at customer service and sell lift passes (trimets Paratransit arm)
