I am currently a freshman attending Portland State University and I can honestly say it's not what I expected, but not necessarily in a bad way. Being in downtown Portland the campus is much different from the average 4-year universities' and is always busy. The students are quite diverse and the faculty has been excellent. It is a great place to come learn and start or better your life. Overall I have been enjoying my time at PSU and can only hope for the best in the future!
Be considerate of where you park. It is super expensive, especially when you get a ticket. The Portland State University Transportation department are brutal to deal with. Even when you purchase a ticket and park in the designated area, they can still give you a ticket. And when going through the appeal process, there is a complete lack of consideration.
I love my school!
Great School, Great Teachers, Great Location. They won't coddle you, much like real life, it is what you put into it.
If you are low income or not a scholarship student, YOU ARE ONLY A REVENUE STREAM =, NOTHING ELSE. EXPECT LITTLE ASSISTANCE, THERE IS BETTER TUTORING AND WRITING AND MATH ASSISTANCE AT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE. IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT GO TO U OF P. YOU WILL BE TREATED BETTER. ALSO THERE IS A COMMUNITY SERVICE COMPONENT THAT IS TOTALLY UNSUPPORTED BY THE UNIVERSITY, BUT YOU CANNOT GRADUATE WITHOUT IT. DONT WASTE YOUR LIFE HERE, STUDENT LOANS ARE EXPENSIVE SPEND YOUR DEBT WISELY--NOT AT PISS ON YOU.
