Not great for little kids, though.
This is a cool place to visit in Portland. They have a view of downtown Portland when you're up in the Mansion or down in front of it where there's a great viewpoint. There is a cost to get in in one of the great times to go is around Christmas as they decorate the place for the holiday. I did a behind-the-scenes tour which was well worth it as we got to go into the basement and other areas and see things that you do not see on a normal tour.
My spouse, who loves early 20tg century furniture and architectures, positively loved it here. Beautiful, unique view of Portland, and a nice hilly hike off the parking lot. The gift shop is small, but I found some lovely cards there.
Our docent was very knowledgeable, and added a lot of context to the items in each room as well as the restoration work that went into the building.
Be sure to check out the carriage house as well!
Such a beautiful historical place to visit. Love the mansion exterior style and the interior. Surrounded by trees and garden, gorgeous in all season. There is signs along the road easy to fin the place. Ticket is required to visit inside the mansion.
Only downside is that parking is pretty tight. We had to wait for a family to leave before we could park on a Sunday afternoon.
A really neat attraction with lots of information about the manor and the family that built it. I highly recommend taking the free tour!
I love The Pittock Mansion. My wife and I got married here in June of 2008. A wonderful place with many living relatives of the Pittock Family. This home still lives on as a beacon for Pittock family members and a wonderful tourist destination that provides a peak into society and culture just after the turn of the century.
