Personally, this is such an exciting merger. When I was on the OHRC board for several years I pushed for our Holocaust Education to have a permanent physical location, not just a website. We finally managed to get space at the old museum location. But this? Jewish History and Holocaust Education blended together in a beautiful, awe-inspiring setting? Thank you to all who made this happen. Mazel tov.
Had lunch at Lefty's Cafe. Delicious and affordable.
The new location is great. Much better than the former Kearney street location. Visited for a film and discussion. Went to the opening exhibit and thoroughly enjoyed that visit. Have not yet eaten in the cafe. They could use a second bathroom as the wait can be long. Friendly staff. Very nice permanent exhibits and a nice space for rotating shows. The gift shop is well curated. Try it, you'll like it.
Wide variety of exhibits related to Oregon Jews. There was an art exhibit with paintings from Mark Rothko. The intolerance exhibit was the best. Eat lunch at Lefty's next door. The only thing that was missing was more explanation what the ceremonial objects are used for.
It's very small but worth a visit.
