So, in a nutshell, if you want the normal company, policy/sales-driven jewelry experience go to one of the mainstream jewelry companies or something. But if you want some amazing jewelry (again, they are GREAT at making jewelry right there in their shop), a great deal, friendly staff, and a personable experience (even long after you buy the jewelry), you should definitely check this place out.
Excellent customer service and insight. Ali, Hussein and Stephanie helped me replace a damaged heirloom with another stone which was even better (and less expensive). They were very attentive, attuned and professional. I am very pleased!!
So I went in and told them the situation and they were amazing! The cutting and resizing are not a part of the warranty, but they did cut it off at no charge. Then they told me to come back after I have the baby and they will resize both my wedding band and engagement rings for no charge! And they went ahead and cleaned my engagement ring and said not to worry about the situation of not having my ring cleaned because they will still take care of it and the warranty is still good anyway. I was NOT expecting for them to be so kind about this!!
I have had positive experiences with ABCJewelers consistently! Every time I need custom jewelry, adjustments, and even diamonds removed from an old ring. They are careful, very easy to talk to, and they listen to my ideas. I had a custom wedding band made and they checked with me at each step of formation (wax up, etc) until they knew I was satisfied and could proceed. Wonderful! 5 stars!! Even now, my mother-in-law has me take jewelry in for her as well. :)
And to top it all off, they let me bring in my dog and even gave her a treat! I don't particularly like walking down the streets of Portland by myself, so I knew I would feel safer with my dog, who is protective of me (and over 50 lbs). I mentioned this to them on the phone and they said it was totally fine, and they were more than accommodating and REALLY nice about it.
I've been married for a year and a half now and am very pregnant and swollen, so I called them to see if they could help me get my ring off (it needed to be cut off).
I would recommend this place more than any other jewelry place any day.
But what really sets them above and beyond the rest is how personable they are. They are not your average, sales driven company, but are real people there to help and really nice.
I can't speak highly enough about ABC . I had previously tried other Jewelers for small repair jobs and was not pleased by the way I was treated so I was looking for a place I could trust . I went to ABC to have my mother's wedding set enlarged after I inherited it. I chose to wait while they did the work and I found people of all walks of life coming in for everything from a gift for a spouse as a repeat customer, to looking to resell, to looking to purchase for the first time. I was impressed by how everyone was treated equally despite their small job or large purchase interest. They treated me with kindness and compassion understanding that my rings from my mother we're very sentimental. The sizing was perfect I decided to give several more pieces to them for sizing, to replace lost stones and to fix a broken earring back. They always clean the pieces as well and make them brilliant. I'm so happy to find a place with such warm and honest people
I was afraid that I had voided the warranty because around the time the 6 month cleaning was due, I was already starting to swell and couldn't get my ring off, so I never took it to get cleaned. I didn't really think about how long I had gone without getting it cleaned until the unexpected happened: my Dr told me that I either get it cut off now or they are going to cut it off when I go into labor.
Honest, knowledgeable, (SUPER) friendly staff. My husband and I had our wedding bands adjusted here. We also had my engagement ring adjusted, a promise ring repaired, and *drum roll* had a special adjustment done for my engagement ring to prevent it from "spinning" (constantly sliding to one side of my finger). Solved the problem perfectly! Pricing is beyond reasonable... I have always been pleasantly surprised by how low the cost has been. Highly recommend!! Also, if you have a ring adjusted, and live out of state, if you need it adjusted again, you can just mail it to them and they will mail it back. This is why I recommend ABC to friends that are just visiting Portland as well.
They helped my husband pick out the perfect engagement ring and then custom made our wedding rings at a VERY reasonable price. His was a replica of his grandfather's ring and mine had a lot of detail, like leaves and a nature look to it, and they did an amazing job.
