The atmosphere is really intimate and romantic. We went on a Tuesday evening and were fortunate enough to get to enjoy some live music. It's definitely a "different" experience, with the hours being unusual for a coffee house and the service system being "grab a menu and sit down, we'll find you in a few minutes", but my husband enjoyed his Double Venice and my Mocha Borgio was pretty good, just a little overly artificial where the orange flavor was concerned and I was a little disappointed that they were out all of their teas as well as their cider options. Our server was a little kooky, but that was all part of the experience!
Our waitress never served us water, we had to ask another waiter. They also never told us or had posted on the front door that they only accept cash/check. Our waitress was very sassy and rude when I tried to pay with our card. Dessert was nice, atmosphere was fun, and they did have some cool live music (clarinet and oboe) playing which added a pleasant ambiance. But, I probably won't be coming back here. But my wife Ashley would, I guess. =)
(their bathroom upstairs is also pretty dang cool and creative)
Don't expect quick service, but it will be exceptional. This place is kind of a hole in the wall that you would just assume is somebody's house, but step inside and it's bursting with chatter and China clanking. Make sure to check out the menu by the door for seasonal treats, then grab menus and try and find a spot cause this place is packed. Everything on the menu is worth it. This place is decorated with eclectic surprises (please see the bathroom). Not meant for a quick bite, definitely a conversational cafe. Live musicians on the weekends.
We have been there numerous times with different people -- never disappointed! Don't go there if you are in a hurry. It isn't Dunkin Donuts! Often they have live chamber music. Great place to go with friends after a play to share you experiences. The beverages and desserts are phenomenal
Was wandering SE when I saw an old rural house. It stuck out and I was entranced by it's exceptional beauty. I didn't expect to see an "Open" red and blue neon sign in the window but when I saw it I rushed in! I grew up in an old rural upstate New York home so this 115 year old building is the most I've felt at home since I got here. A coffee and dessert were 8.75. I truly love this cafe.
