If you like a hipster style hotel this is a cool place to stay. It is a little spendy. But you'll enjoy the art on the wall and the interesting style of the interior. I enjoyed my stay and most of the guests were fairly quite. Apart from that you'll awaken to a lovely Portland setting. Staff were helpful and the atmosphere for the most part was pretty clean.
Wedding event. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hall was cool and had character you can't get at a newer venue. Enjoyed.
Brian, the person at the front desk was super knowedgable and helped us figure out the best plan of action for 24hrs in Portland. We stayed in one of the non view rooms with the shared shower in the hallway. There was never a line for the shower rooms. Everything was kept very clean and had a fun Portland funky vibe to it. Stump town coffee is right downstairs in the lobby and wverthi g else was with a few minutes walking distance. I. Would HIGHLY recommend staying here when visiting Portland.
The Ace hotel is a cool place, also air conditioned, which is great in the summer. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the more affordable rooms with a sink but no bathroom. Using the shared bathrooms, they were clean and we never had to wait for one. The location is hard to beat. It's very close to Powell's books, and there is delicious food all around, such as Boxer Ramen across the street.
Pros: Very clean facility, great location, kind employees. The bathrooms are not in all rooms (so shared bathrooms on the hall), but the shared (one-person) bathrooms are clean and nice. Hot water took a while to come out of the shower heads. Walking distance to Powell's books (a block or two) and other parts of downtown. Cons: inexplicable thumping sounds coming from the ceiling (it sounded like stomping in a room above ours) for hours each morning and again the next night. The bathroom was out of toilet paper, so I went to the front desk and they said someone would be right up, but an hour later there was still no toilet paper.
