I used to shop Dr. Martens avidly. However, with the current appearance of a billboard here in Portland that quite clearly displays skinhead symbolism (no less, symbolism that indicates the person has committed violence in the name of being a skinhead) encouraging customers to "Rock the Holidays," I am seriously reconsidering.
Hats off and a double flipping A++ for service and cost.
Went in today (Nov 3rd 2017) and found a very busy store, with chill and very attentive employees. David ended up hwlping me out, we shared some convo throughout the process and it felt immediately like simply hanging and talking with a friend. I walked out with exactly the boots I wanted and very pleased that I wasn't just another customer. While I was there I was THE customer. That's refreshing given how poorly I usually get treated.
Either way, they seem to care so much about it that they are refusing to do anything or respond for their choice.
Nice variety of docs, usually always in stock. If not they'll order it for you, very nice staff /helpful
What makes this more alarming is that people have been trying to contact them for a week regarding this ad, and not only are the refusing to respond to calls and requests about it, but they are likewise refusing to take it down.
Sad, considering I thought that Dr. Martens was big on inclusion and trying to distance themselves from this dangerous correlation between their boots and skinheads/white supremacists.
The folks here were helpful. A few of them a bit snobby, but I've dealt with this anytime I've shopped here. Very knowledgeable though. Found exactly what we were looking for and bought two pairs of shoes. The store is very nicely set up too.
Very sad indeed.
Clearly this begets a high level of ignorance on the part of the marketing team, or a clear support of white supremacy.
I wish Doc martens had better representation on the retail level. The stripper with a name tag (literally, retail is her second job) acted like i wasn't there, while she chatted with my wife about everything from her pretty dress to her hair color. This is how i found out about her other job. Then they tried on a half dozen pairs of boots for about an hour, i was keeping track because of pay parking. Only after she asked my wife if there was anything else she could help her with did my wife mention that the whole reason we came in was so i could get new boots for work. She asked what i wanted to see and what size i was. I told her about a 10 and she disappeared for another 20 min and came back out with several pairs in the wrong side and style, threw them down and told me that they were out everything i asked for. Don't shoe stores measure feet anymore? Do yourself a favor and shop online, no rude, lazy sales people to get ignored by.
