9900 SW CANYON ROAD PORTLAND, OR 97225 Has turned into The Bates Motel. We are sent there, for lodging while we visit the PVAMC. They no longer offer breakfast, or dinner. If you want food, you must eat in their bar (Not all of us like eating in a bar). The carpets are always dirty. I don't advise walking barefoot on them, you might pick up some kind of an illness. Be careful where you step, the carpets are torn and coming up. (An easy way to trip yourself). No more "coffee , cream and sugar" in your room. Gone are the days of "glass" drink wear, or real coffee cups. Get use to using paper cups. The beds are well worn. Even the ice machine doesn't work. And even if you request "no stairs", in order to get from your car to your room, you still have to climb a 6% up grade on their parking lot. These things might sound nit-picky. And yes, "we" are not paying for our rooms. But if YOU had to pay to stay there, and they charge $99 a night otherwise, by my description, would you? This is what our veterans are giving as a place to stay while we go in for our doctors appointments. If we choose to stay other places, we must drive 15 MILES to get to our appointments. Not all visiting Vet's know the Portland area. No wonder so many don't show up for their appointment. If they are given this kind of lodging.......
To all my VA friends:
I spent last weekend in Grants Pass, OR the Shilo Inn was the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. They have a non-smoking policy which is awesome but they don't enforce their own policy. The people next to us were smoking marijuana the whole hall way stunk. I reported to the front desk. I went to front desk to complain again and requested room change. The employee said he would call the other guest and ask if they would change rooms. What!!. The T.V in the room are from 1980 and barely work. The hot tub was cold and continental breakfast is a joke. This hotel is an eyesore for the Shilo and company they would be better off to tear it down or sell it.
Stayed at the ocean Shores Shilo Inn and it was very dirty. Mold in the bathroom, along with loose wall paper, and shelving not dusted, Dirty carpets, with fraying near the fireplace hearth, door blinds removed and not replaced so lights from the cars would shine in at night, dated TV's, date furniture. The place is need of remodel/update. Even the fish tanks in the lobby area didn't look very clean. Was not impressed at all including the restaurant as I experienced food poisoning Won't be going back anytime soon.
SHILO INN HOTEL & SUITES BEAVERTON - OREGON
I stayed at the hotel in Portland, Or. Airport for the duration of 3 nights on business. I had stayed at this hotel approx. 6 months previously. That stay was ok and I thought I would try them again. The very first day I checked in there was a problem... I had no bath towels, I called the front desk and asked if they could send some towels up to my room. I knew they were coming soon at some point, so I decided to go into the bathroom to hurry up and take off my clothes that I traveled in to put something more comfortable on such as my jogging suit so that I could start working on my computer. As I was in the bathroom which is right next to the entry door. I heard a noise coming from the key slot, I was dressed by this time, so I rushed to the door and peaked in the peep hole and saw a male housekeeper trying to get into my room unannounced. He did not knock nor say "Housekeeping" or anything. I snatched the door open and asked why he was trying to get into my room without my permission. There were two other housekeepers in the hallway, I loudly repeated myself "Why were you trying to get into my room?" He looked at me with a smirk on his face. So I told one of the other workers and she asked him in their language. He said in broken English, "I don't know!" I told him that I was going to call the manager. I called the front desk and asked to speak to the manager, he was not around. He called me back after 20 min or so. I was so upset and told him what happened he apologized and said he would talk to him and make sure he is retrained and then said that they were from Nepal and most of them did not know how to speak English. I told him that was not my problem and that he spoke enough English tell me He did not know why he was coming in my room unannounced. The manager talked to me as if I was lying and made this up. He seemed to have every excuse. He did not even offer me anything or asked if I was ok. The days after just went downhill, from rude lazy workers to horrible breakfast, which the area around the food was not cleaned up. The restaurant food was very very nasty, I had a burger that had old meat with mushy caramelized onions on it. Nothing like 6 months ago!!! I travel every week to different states for work and I stay in a lot of hotels and this was about the worst one!!! I would never stay at another Shilo Hotel as long as I live!!!! Every day I had to ask for something for my room. I also slept with chair underneath my door every night thereafter!!!! I will also report this to the corporate office. This should never happen!!!
Mourning I was making coffee in room
Unwrapped coffee cup from its sanitary wrap only to find out it was a used cup, never washed. DISGUSTING
