Finally, a gym that feels like home. Never too busy, & I love the friendly atmosphere-- staff remember who you are & members are happy to share the space. Plus, it's not just gym junkies or jazzercisers-- anyone is welcome. Love spin with Paul!
I had always had a membership at the big corporate gyms - but with the personal attention and help I have received over this past year, I highly recommend Boom over the rest. It's clean, the new management has really kicked the place into high gear..
It's also frustrating when trainers use the boxes to put their stuff on, so you feel like a jerk if you need to use it.
As a whole it gets the job done, but there are lots of things that make it harder for women to get what they need. I've submitted feedback requesting more 7.5 and 12.5 dumbbells, because when you are just starting the jump between 5, 10, and 15 can be too much. 17.5 pounds would also be useful. Even with that feedback I've not seen any changes. They have one set of 7.5 that I've found, and it is all the way across the room. They also don't have bumper plates, so if you are practicing deadlifts, you can't get the proper height. There is a work around for that on whatever that big cross fit type jungle gym thing is, but they should really have bumper plates. They can't possibly be that expensive, I just think whoever makes these decisions is a dude.
A solid gym and Grant, as a personal trainer, is awesome. I've been working with Grant for about 2 years. He has fixed my shoulder and other areas where I've had joint pain. He has significantly increased my strength. And he often has great nutrition advice (if only I would follow it). He is like a trainer and physical therapist all in one!
I really really miss the chin up assist machine at my old gym. Using a resistance band, hauling a box over (that is being used by a trainer to put their water on it) is just not the same. I think all of these things could be fixed pretty easy.
This gym is incredible! I was a member here and the physical trainers are amazing! They also have lots of classes like crossfire, pilates, spin, yoga and zumba. I would strongly recommend this gym and its staff to provide you with all your fitness needs!
Probably what I hate the MOST about this gym is not even the gym's fault, it's the property owner's. The parking lot spaces are so tiny that my Hyundai Accent can hardly park there. Then add all those bros that back a full size truck into a spot, you can't get out of the car. AND THE SPEED BUMPS!!! They were already horrible, but when they were redone they made them even worse! I feel like my car is bottoming out on all of them, and you can see marks on them where cars have. If I were the owners, I would be livid.
Highly recommend checking out the fitness team at Boom Tualatin!
I have been a member since Boom opened - and it just gets better. There's a ton more equipment and the staff and trainers are so helpful- it's a steal for the price.
