Drove up from Bend to get some equipment drilled from Larry and was very impressed with the remodel and new look. Got a lane to roll a few balls to make sure the fit was well, and was awkwardly asked to move tables as apparently they do table service and each lane has a reserved table. They had a hard time explaining what they wanted us to do, until we finally realized their intentions. Not a fan of eating and drinking that close to the approaches, but I guess that's the new thing. Wouldn't mind rolling in a tournament in the future, but probably will not be making any trips soon to hang out on the lanes and eat dinner. Would have been much less awkward if someone would have just asked us to move to the appropriate table up front.
We hosted a birthday party here for my 7 year old. It was a great experience! The staff was friendly, attentive, helpful, and it was clean. Everyone had fun!
This place is LEGIT! If only they were located a bit closer to my house.
Spent $50 for a reserved garunteed lane for my mom's bday. We did not get a lane until 20 minutes after my reservation. Really disappointing. They comped 2 shoe rentals and added some extra time on our lane which was a nice try at making up for it. The lane we did get eventually was in between two groups with small children who continually ran into our lane. Not only dangerous but also making a frustrating situation even more so. Fun experience but not worth paying extra for the reserved lane at all.
I'm happy a place like this has recently opened in the Portland area because we need more bowling alleys! As this place was so great I'll probably have to plan a trip again and hike out to the other side of town to check it out again.
Revamped older Alley that bridges the gap between bowling as a sport and family entertainment.
In today's world bowling for the sake of bowling seems to be not as profitable as it once was. Take the rise of Big Al's franchise bowling with their emphasis on kids video games, high volume and high prices. Sure, thats fine for familys and kids birthday parties but I'm a serious bowler and want well maintained (properly oiled) lanes, and less kids walking around interrupting my workouts. Kingpins IS still run as an Alley first, and this is my 'House' for practice and leagues. I compete in any tournaments here as well. Staff is GREAT, and extremely well managed facility. Food is excellent, and the bar is as well. I will add the prices are up a bit, no doubt to offset the cost of the rebuild but it is highly worth it. They help with coupons to league players, and excellent wait staff. Getting harder to get open bowling here as they are being rediscovered!
My work even was catered and the food was much better than I had been expecting. They had a whole Mexican taco spread with even a few acceptable options for me (the vegetarian). The server who was tending to our party was super on top of it. I was floored that she was calling most people by their names. "Would you like another vodka soda Krystal?"
I ended up at King Pins for a work holiday party. It was the first time I had been inside since the new ownership took over the old bowling alley which used to be here. I've got to say they they did an AMAZING job with the place. Everything is new and shiny, tons of lanes for bowling, and even an awesome bar area for drinks and food.
