If you've never been to this place- go! It's more than just a place for coffee or brunch; it's HUGE with tons of books and just everything. Also, the ambiance is just amazing here. Great place to take friends who are from out of town, great meeting location to dazzle clients, and side note: great customer service. You'll feel special when you're here.
I'm very surprised to see some of the negative reviews on here since my boyfriend and I had the opposite experience of being genuinely taken aback by how kind this woman was to us and how lovely of an experience we had being able to talk with her and hear her knowledge on a wide array of niche subjects. She was extremely helpful when we had questions about any of her books and was extremely obliging when we wanted to handle/see several of them. She even very sweetly invited us (without being prompted) to look through her more valuable vintage books in the glass cases. We thumbed through maybe 40 books and she didn't bat an eye. I came here to praise her for helping us to have a uniquely wonderful and fun bookstore experience, and honestly think that maybe she's great with respectful adults and just not that overjoyed about having young children handle some of the (centuries) old and historic collections of books she holds in her shop. What an awesome, delightful place with a treasure trove of books that are difficult to find elsewhere.
I hesitate to give such a poor rating because if you don't have kids this might be a great used book shop. But if you do have children, this review is for you. This book store may have a children's section but the owner does not like children. I, like several others, had a terrible experience with my children reading the books and having the owner ask me to not let them touch the books. My husband and I love to read. We have tons of books (both adult and children). I buy most of my children's books second hand and have never had a problem in a book shop before. I completely respect that there are places children aren't welcome but don't have a children's section if you don't want children in your store.
Cool little neighborhood bookstore! It's nice to shop around not just for books but also other nice trinkets. I bought some cool gifts for people and enjoyed the atmosphere. Definitely a nice gem!
The owner mis-described a book on ABE as being signed by hand twice by the author--even after I specifically asked her if one of the signatures was in fact printed. (It was.) When I contacted her, she got angry, insisted that she did not misrepresent the book, and refused to take it back for a full refund. UNPROFESSIONAL.
