I went into this store on 10/19 @ around 1230 prepared to buy a pendant for a late birthday present for myself. When I walked in the two ladies behind the counter were gossiping with someone about her new job. I wasn’t greeted at all. I approached the counter to look at the pendants and all three women acted as if I was interrupting a private conversation. I decided to browse the jewelry cases to see if I could get anyone else to help me, but the only person who acknowledged me was the woman there to read tarot. I had an appointment and couldn’t wait longer than the 10 minutes I browsed. The three women were still gossiping when I left. You lost at least a $100 sale.
I'm reviewing this on behalf of what my wife likes not what I like. This would not be my type of store however they seem to have what my wife looks for when she goes in. I usually stand outside but on occasions I've gone in and browse their books and gift cards.
Too much to experience in one day! New products almost daily...awesome quality. Staff are "You" focused...top notch customer service: ask for suggestions!
So, today I went to Renaissance with my mom to get some new tarot cards, and I was followed by at least two people (who usually were eyeing me and talking about me) in the entirety of me being there. My mom has been taking me there since I was a child, easily one of my most favorite stores. Now first I was super angry. But, after a phone call the owner explained that I had a large open bag, and they have been having a lot of trouble with shoplifters. They also offered a 30$ credit, which in showed that they were sincerely sorry. I understand trouble with shoplifters, it's Portland and everyone doesn't care. But I would have much preferred they ask for my bag, or just be open. I couldn't shop when someone was literally watching over my shoulder. So, just leave a warning sign or offer a bag check so this ordeal could be avoided. I am happy this came to a resolution, and I will definitely be coming back in the future (with a small closed bag)
I love this place. It is a wonderful place to explore all things spiritual, religious & mysterious. The atmosphere upon entering is calming and relaxed. Just the air itself feels wonderful. They have a lot of books, tools and art pieces. A veritable candy store for the awoken.
