I only go to Doug Fir for the music so I can't say anything about food or drinks. But for music, this venue is my pick in Portland. The sound is amazing! And it's a really beautiful space. Sadly, they don't have the same variety in music genres that they used to a few years back. It definitely gets crowded and people can be annoying, but there are tables lining the perimeter and once the music starts, it can drown out the drunks.
Doug Fir is always a great stop on a night out. They offer food all times of the day (surprisingly not as busy for breakfast as they should be). Have a smaller more intimate feeling concert venue and place really feels like a 'Doug Fir' lounge.

Had a wonderful meal here recently! Our waitress was amazing and very friendly. The decor was also nice. It was slightly weird when we walked in, one of the gentlemen at the front door was draped over/holding himself up, on the signs that said "please wait to be seated". Almost as though he could care less to be there. However, we still enjoyed our visit from out of town.
One of my favorite venues, love all of the wooden features. Perfect place to check out a show and dance your butt off or chill on the couches/side benches depending on the music. My only complaint is the air conditioner blows cold air right on one of the couches. Probably can't be helped but bring a light jacket just in case!
