Great prices and it beats the hell out of driving or flying. The seats are bigger and more comfy(think first class on a jet), even if it's a little dated. There is a dining car to get food and you don't have to worry about all the hassels that flying(or driving) presents. Luggage is a breeze. I checked a bag and on my return trip it was too heavy to check so they just let me take it on the train! I was really impressed with the staff in Eugene. I had a return trip on a bus, but got to the station early when a train was waiting to depart. I asked if I could switch to the train and the gentleman behind the counter happily helped me get it switched for free! By far one of the best travelling experiences I have had! Thanks Amtrak!

My scooter broke down when we arrived at the station. Two security staff, Zack and Mr. Luru, stayed with me and actually repaired my scooter so I could make my train. They saved my vacation Everyone there was helpful and kind. Thank you

Station is much more organized than other Amtrak stations, however it is hard to hear what is being called sometimes.

It was easy to pick up family from the train station. There is a small area where taxis line up and 3 places for cars to wait, one of those is marked for handicap access. The spaces are marked for "5 minutes with the driver remaining in the car". I had to wait about 20 minutes but the loan, security guy didn't care. Directly across from the street is a small, pay by the hour, parking lot and a few blocks north is a parking garage. There are lots of homeless people camped on the sidewalks between Broadway and the train station but none at the station.

Union Station was spacious and relaxed. I caught the train from Portland to Seattle then into Canada - really enjoyed it. Laid-back and stress-free journey, train was dated but comfortable.
