I tried the Rachel and I loved it. The pesto pasta was very good too. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. I am only in Portland for a few days, but I'd like to go back here and try more sandwiches before I leave. I'd highly recommend going here!
Charlies catered our wedding and we were absolutely stunned with the level of perfection! The food was so delicious the set up was beautiful they did everything so perfect! I can't count how many times guests went back for seconds and 3rds no joke it was that good! My husband and I have taken home many a sandwich from Charlies and every one is soooo good! Excellent service excellent quality!
But, they deserve two (2) stars. They lose another star for having two price menus, one for take-out and another for delivery. If you order off of the delivery menu you will be charged more money for the same product. OK, so you pay more for delivery, so what? Well, they also charge you a delivery fee. That level of price gouging costs them a star. It seems fair to do one or the other, not both.
I had the Croque Monsieur, Charlie told me it means 'bite the mister', and loved it. What really got me is that the eponymous Charlie remembered my name the second time I went in there. I didn't have a booger dangling out of my nose the first time or anything. At least I don't think I did. Great customer service.
The food is good, in fact it's really good. It's four (4) stars good. But, they lose a star for their prices, which are high for what they're selling. Now, three (3) stars is good enough for anyone. Three (3) stars means you're getting a fair value for your dollar. And, even though they're a bit pricey, their food is worth it. So, four (4) star food, minus one (1) star for four (4) star prices.
It's hard to give them two (2) stars but two stars is what they deserve.
Very good sandwiches. Tried all 4 in group and were consistently delicious. Those included the Prime Rib and Real Ham. However, they were all pretty small for the price, which means I won't be back that frequently. The German potato salad needed some work as well.
