I go to this market nearly exclusively whenever I am in Portland (I live in Vancouver). They have the best prices around and the employees are so friendly. Never once have they shamed me for asking a question. And every time I go they give me a free item just to try as I'm checking out. Sometimes they even have a couple choices to pick from. There are LOTS of snack items to try and it seems they get new ones frequently. But the most important thing to me is that they carry my very favorite white rabbit candies! Now if only they would bring back the rose milk they once carried, I would be an even more satisfied customer, if that's even possible (I adored that stuff)!
I needed Japanese curry and this place is located near my house. I was floored by the customer service and selection. I was able to find my Golden Curry, as well as thai curry paste, my favorite canned coconut milk, and a wide variety of sauces. The cashier was so incredibly friendly! This place will be my go-to Asian grocery store in Portland.
Pros: The wide selection from snacks, drinks, and meats. Produce is always fresh and deli food is piping hot.
Cons: I don't live close enough to this place.
Good customer service and a great selection of products. Their soy milk was a good deal and their prices were cheaper than Uwajimaya. (But more limited in regards to baked goods and prepared dishes.) That being said the customer service was better and we plan to come back the next time we're in the area. My wife was a happy camper and enjoyed seeing products from Malaysia.
