This is a great store located in Oldtown, and easy to get to once you find a parking spot. Nice customer service, helpful if you want it, but give you space if you need it. I could spend a LOT of money in this store really quickly.
Quientisensual western gear and clothing. Well known and popular from Portland to New York and Los Angeles. Luchesse, Stuart, and Tony Lama hand crafted boots. Filson and Barbour outdoor clothing. Stetson and Resistal hats, to name a few. Top of the line quality products, excellent staff; old Portland standard.
Nice store. Make sure to check out all 3 floors. I had a nice chat with the boot guy. He's been there since the 80s. The store is family-owned by the 3rd generation.
Not sure if they don't get many people of color in here, or if specific employees are unable to overlook their preconceptions about Blacks, but I was rather disturbed by the young girl working the floor who decided to follow me through the entire store from front to back, and back again... Nevermind the fact that she asked twice if I needed assistance, to which I replied I was only looking; AND the fact that there were plenty of other customers in the store that she could be helping. Who knows, maybe the three piece suit I was wearing struck her as "suspicious" for some reason? The older gentleman at the counter was much friendlier, and far more helpful in directing me to a store that had what I was looking for. Aside from the casual overtones of racist profiling, the store actually had some beautiful classic Western wear items, but nothing I'd classify as "outdoor," as it's defined in the current market. Good boutique spot, but not the place to go if you're wanting outdoor gear - or a feeling of non-discriminatory and inclusive acceptance.
Great customer service here. Never a problem to special order sizes too. Good tack room and supplies.
